The Oyster River Enhancement Society (ORES) was formed in 1983 by a small group of concerned citizens in an attempt to revitalize the decimated Oyster River. Since its inception, the membership has grown significantly and now members come from all over the Regional District and beyond. Volunteers have made this society what it is today with thousands of hours of dedicated effort. The river now has healthy salmon, with
escapement near historic levels. Steelhead and Cutthroat Trout numbers have also rebounded.
