We had a very busy summer at ORES.
With the assistance of our good friends at the Pacific Salmon Foundation, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and our teams of dedicated volunteers under the leadership of our manager (Lyle), we completed 3 long awaited projects.
The first one was an additional capilano trough and a new upwelling box in channel 2. This was Lyle’s baby as he constructed it mostly on his own time.
Next was a new storage pen at the fish trap.
This tank has 4 different holding pens to replace the single floating pen that we had. This tank will provide the additional holding capacity that we were lacking.
Because we rely on a natural water flow without the assistance of pumps, our hatchery would have been devastated if the water levels dropped below our intakes.
