Sorry for the delay with the posts but we have been very busy. The smolt release was a great success! Thanks to all the volunteers and our friends from Cari High, your efforts make this project possible.
Lyle has been very busy thinking up new projects to make our life simpler and give us the opportunity to incubate more of our eggs in an up to date facility. So this year with the help of the Pacific Salmon Foundation and Marine Harvest we built a new incubation shed in channel 2. When we receive the new heath trays it will be ready for this year’s eggs.
In the past we have had a problem holding the Chinook brood stock until they were ripe, so we are trying a new holding tank system. Instead of the traditional rectangular shaped pens we now have round tubs. Marine Harvest kindly donated some outdated equipment from one of their facilities and we have installed them in channel 2. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers we were able to get the tubs place and decking built in a very short order. Now we wait for the fish and we all have our fingers crossed that they will find them more to their liking.
